Concert Review: Colony House, Washington DC

Colony House have managed to throw some insane shows — and they killed their set in DC. We’re sure their new album comes packed with some fresh, new tunes. And we’re all excited.

On tour with Dreamers and The Mowgli’s, Colony House completely gave DC a taste of what the band is all about. Playing at the famous Rock’n’Roll Hotel, the band managed to invoke the rock and roll vibe — they completely brought the house down. These guys definitely know how to make the crowd feel electric.

With songs like “Silhouettes”, “You Know It“, and “Second Guessing Games,” the band got the entire crowd dancing and singing along. And considering they had a small stage, all the Colony House guys managed to take advantage of all the space that they had. At one point, frontman Caleb Chapman stood atop his brother’s drumset! Steve Mills (guitarist) got the crowd moving — he was continuously jumping around and interacting with the front rows. The entire show was a blast and we’re definitely sad that their setlist wasn’t 20 songs long.

With a setlist that managed to include the eclectic styles of their first and second albums, the band really do have their eyes set on leaving their mark on the indie rock scene. And considering Only the Lonely(which you can preorder here) is being released with major label RCA, the band is definitely set on showcasing their talent, hard work, and skills. We’re sure that the new music will leave us completely speechless.

Will Chapman and Parke Cottrell, drummer and bassist respectively, also managed to create some serious musical chaos. Considering the quartet have managed to present themselves as fun, upbeat guys, it was definitely something else to see them all interact together. When the band went into a bridge during “Silhouettes,” Parke, Caleb, and Steve all managed to get the crowd banging their heads. There was no doubt in the band’s mind that Colony House was there to tear it down.

Concert Review: Colony House, Washington DC 3

On behalf of everyone at their DC show, we’d like to thank Colony House for one of the best rock shows we’ve seen this year.

Make sure to listen to You Know It (throwback vibes anyone?) and You & I (which is insane, by the way) from their new album. Only the Lonely, their sophomore album, hits us in January, so make sure you’re prepared for some magic come the new year. You can buy album/merch bundles, or the album alone, here. We’ll continue to hope we find $70 so we can buy a bundle too.

Make sure to follow Colony House on Twitter @ColonyHouse and let us know what song is your favorite. And make sure to tweet us over @CelebMix!
